7 Little Things That Make an Ordinary Week Feel Better

Sometimes a normal week can start feeling like the same day on repeat. I’ve been learning how to make my week better without needing a vacation, a huge plan, or something new to buy.

For me, that can happen when I don’t have much on my to-do list for several days in a row. But I’ve learned that sometimes what I really need isn’t a huge change—it’s a change in perspective.

If I catch myself thinking, I could really use a vacation, I remind myself that we have one planned and give myself something to look forward to.

A “no” today can simply mean “not yet.”

And sometimes a few little things are enough to make an ordinary week feel good again.

1. Give Yourself Something to Look Forward To

It doesn’t have to be a vacation or some huge plan.

For me, açaí bowls, watching RHOA, an indoor date night are all little things I can look forward to.

Having something enjoyable ahead—even something really simple—can make the week feel a little less repetitive.

2. Reset One Space

If there’s one room that changes my mood when it’s clean, it’s the kitchen.

When my kitchen is clean, I feel like I can accomplish so much more. There’s something about walking into a clean kitchen that makes the rest of the house—and my brain —feel more put together.

You don’t always need to clean the entire house. Sometimes resetting one space is enough.

3. Do Something That Makes You Feel Good

For me, it’s my hair and looking more awake.

When my hair is done and my eyes look brighter, I feel alive and ready to tackle the day.

It doesn’t have to mean getting completely dressed up. Sometimes putting a little effort into yourself is enough to shift how you feel.

4. Change the Atmosphere at Home

Light makes such a difference for me.

Opening the windows, turning on music, and brightening the room signals to my brain and body that it’s time to wake up and start the day.

The sunnier, the better—but honestly, as long as there’s light, I feel like I can accomplish something.

Changing the atmosphere can sometimes change your mood without you needing to leave the house at all.

Sunny day near the lake, green grass & nice clouds.

5. Enjoy a Favorite Drink

Water and tea. Honestly, that’s it.

There’s something about sitting down with some tea—or simply drinking refreshing cold water—that makes me feel good.

I feel like a woman. A hydrated one as well. Sometimes I struggle here though & forget to hydrate.

That little thing that makes your afternoon better really can be that simple.

6. Do Something Just Because You Like It

I love to draw, but I haven’t done it in such a long time.

Drawing brings me this sense of peace and calm that I genuinely love. And I want to make more room for it without feeling like I need to turn it into something productive.

Not every hobby needs to become content, a side hustle, or another thing to accomplish.

Some things can belong to you simply because they make you happy.

7. Notice What Was Good

One thing I sometimes forget is how good I feel when I intentionally spend time away from my phone and other devices.

It’s so easy to pick them back up without even thinking about it. When I actually give myself that space, there’s a calmness that comes with it.

At the end of the week, I want to get better at remembering those things.

At the end of the week, I want to think about what made me laugh, the moments that felt peaceful, the things I enjoyed, and what I’d love to do again next week.

Sometimes how to make your week better starts with simply noticing what already felt good.

How to Make Your Week Better, One Little Thing at a Time

Every week doesn’t need to be exciting.

Sometimes it’s a clean kitchen, a creamy açaí bowl, a bright room, a cup of tea, drawing for a little while, putting your phone down, or having something small to look forward to.

Nothing huge. No extraness.

Just little reminders that an ordinary week can still be a really good one.
