The Art of Becoming

There’s something interesting about being somewhere between who you were and who you’re becoming.

If I had to describe this season of my life, I would call it shedding.

I’m shedding old habits and creating new ones. I’m letting go of the version of myself that felt like she needed validation. I’m learning to give myself grace with my body, my style, and where I am in life.

At the same time, I’m growing into a woman who is more confident, more bold, and less willing to allow fear to keep her from building the life she wants.

And I’m realizing that becoming her doesn’t happen all at once.

1. You Don’t Have to Have Her Figured Out Yet

One thing I’m still learning about myself is my capacity.

I have a tendency to overwork myself or take on too much because I’m focused on everything I want to accomplish.

But rest matters too.

If I constantly push myself beyond what I can handle, eventually I won’t have much left to give. Becoming the woman I want to be also means learning when to work, when to keep going, and when it’s okay to rest.

2. Some Versions of You Are Meant to Be Outgrown

There are habits and expectations I know no longer belong in the life I’m trying to create.

Sleeping until 10. Expecting my house to be spotless every single day. Eating in ways that don’t make me feel my best.

I’ve also had to let go of beating myself up because I wasn’t consistent when I first had the idea for my business.

I still struggle with some of these things, but I can see them slowly making their way out of my life.

Growth doesn’t always happen overnight.

3. Becoming Can Require Letting Go

One of the biggest things I’ve had to release is expectation.

I can have goals and plans without demanding that everything happen exactly when or how I pictured it.

Right now, I’m learning to peacefully take life day by day and make sure I’m doing my part.

There’s freedom in knowing I can control my effort without trying to control every outcome.

4. Stop Rushing to Arrive

When you’re focused on where you want to go, it’s easy to overlook what’s happening while you’re getting there.

I don’t want to do that.

I want to remember what it felt like to build my work ethic. I want to be present enough to actually see what I’m creating so that when the things I’ve prayed and worked for arrive, I can appreciate what it took to get there.

The middle matters too.

5. Notice the Quiet Changes

Not every change in your life is going to be dramatic enough for everyone else to notice.

Sometimes the biggest change is your mindset.

Over time, I’ve trained myself to celebrate where I am now while still believing my time is coming.

I don’t have to wait until I reach every goal to acknowledge that something good is already happening.

6. Give Yourself Permission to Change

One thing I’ve changed my mind about is allowing my current weight to stop me from showing up.

My body carried and gave birth to a human. I’m still learning and adjusting to how my body has changed through that experience.

I can work toward feeling stronger and more confident while still giving myself grace right now.

I don’t have to hide until I reach some future version of myself.

There’s Beauty in Becoming

Maybe becoming isn’t about finally reaching a point where you can say, Okay, now I have everything figured out.

Maybe it’s learning to appreciate each version of yourself along the way.

I’m still shedding. Still learning. Still changing my mind. Still working on habits. Still becoming.

And instead of rushing past this version of myself to get to the next one, I want to appreciate the woman I’m meeting along the way.
